Originally from 1976 (episode 17 of the 1st season of the Muppet Show), and sung by Mahna Mahna and the two Snowths, the Mahna Mahna song was reborn as the Phenomena song in episode 7 of Muppets Tonight (broadcast 20/9/96 in the UK, 23/6/96 in the US). The Phenomena song was performed by Dr. (Sandra) Bullock the Animal Psychiatrist, who was visited by Kermit. Kermit's problem was that he saw strange creatures whenever he said the word "phenomena"...
The song has become one of the best known of all the muppet's songs. Here are the (now legendary) original lyrics...:
Chorus:
Mahna Mahna
Do doo be-do-do
Mahna Mahna
Do do-do do
Mahna Mahna
Do doo be-do-do be-do-do be-do-do be-do-do-doodle do do do-doo do!
(Improv. by Mahna Mahna)

phone rings
Kermit: "Hello?... Just a second... It's for you..."
Mahna Mahna (from the other end of the phone line): Mahna Mahna!
Wallace: "The question is, what is a Mahna Mahna?"
Statler: "The question is, who cares?
